Supervisor Doreen Farr is heading to Sacramento hearing

The on shore oil drilling issues involving hydraulic fracturing commonly known as fracking will be the focus of a hearing in Sacramento Tuesday. Santa Barbara County Supervisor Doreen Farr will be among those speaking.

Farr will be joining a panel of speakers from the oil industry and from local counties including Supervisors from Ventura and Kern Counties who are concerned with the drilling operations.

The oil company believes fracking is a technologically sound way to extract oil and gas from underground reserves that are trapped in rock formations. Opponents fear the technique could be harmful, especially to ground water sources.
