Just how super is the Super Bowl?
Super Bowl Sunday is an unofficial American holiday and has become about much more than football.
Tens of thousands of people are in New Orleans to watch the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII. Even more people will be at home watching on television. Over 111 million Americans tuned in last year and even more are expected this year.
“I’m excited about having a good time with my friends and eating and drinking good things,” Santa Barbara resident Jeremiah Nix said.
It’s estimated that fans will eat more than 1.23 billion chicken wings, over 11 million pounds of potato chips and buy over 50 million cases of beer for Super Bowl Sunday.
