Police investigate motive behind stabbing

A Santa Maria man is behind bars for allegedly stabbing another man.

Santa Maria police said Joseph Moreno stabbed a man in his 50s while he was taking out his trash.

The stabbing took place just before 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon on the 500 block of West Orange Street.

Police are still trying to figure out why Moreno allegedly stabbed the man.

The victim was treated at Marian Regional Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
