Wet Weather Moves Through Central Coast

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Forecasters say the latest winter storm to move into California brought some odd weather to the region, including thunderstorms in Northern California and snow in Southern California.The National Weather Service says thunderstorms were in the forecast Sunday for the San Mateo and Monterey County coasts, with lightning strikes reported early Sunday.Snow was also expected in some of the higher elevations of the Santa Lucia Mountains, a mountain range that runs from Monterey County south to San Luis Obispo.In Southern California, the storm dropped snow as low as 3,500 feet early Sunday.Winds with gusts topping out at 50 mph were expected in some mountain areas and in the foothills of the San Gabriel Valley.Along the beaches, forecasters were warning about dangerous rip currents and waves as high as 15 feet from Big Sur south to Point Conception in Santa Barbara County.For more on the weather, head to the SkyTracker 3 Forecast page.
