Sachs’ Halfcourt Buzzer-Beater Gives Westmont Hoops Dramatic Win

It was an unbelievable end to a career night for Westmont College senior Jordan Sachs. Down by 1, Sachs banked in a halfcourt buzzer-beater to lift his team to a 73-71 dramatic overtime victory against South Dakota Mines in Montecito. Sachs scored a career high 25 points but it is his final 3 of the night that saved the game for Westmont who led by as many as 17 points in the second half. With 3.1 seconds left in overtime, Sachs grabbed a rebound off of a missed free throw and dribbled to mid-court and let his shot fly a fraction of a second before the backboard lights lit up, signaling the end of the game. The ball hit the backboard and then bounced off the rim and hit the backboard again before settling into the basket for the win. Westmont College is now 11-3 and will host UC Merced tonight at 7:30pm.
