Runway Project Complete At Pt. Mugu
It’s not a new runway, but it’s an improved one.A runway at Naval Base Ventura County in Pt. Mugu has withstood take-offs and landings since the 1960s.During the holidays Navy planes flew in and out of Oxnard and Camarillo Airports. That gave crews time to add three inches of asphalt to an 11-thousand foot runway at Mugu. The re-surfacing is expected to extend the life of the runway for another 20 to 30 years. It Cost about about 6 and half million dollars to do. Despite some rain delays it was completed ahead of schedule. The blue angels pilots said they hadn’t noticed the improved runway, they said they were too busy looking at the scenery.Share your comments about this story with us on the KEY News Facebook page.
