Porn Star May Owe School District Money
A former porn star placed on paid administrative leave from her Oxnard teaching position may have to pay the district back. The district fired her last Spring, but she was placed on leave until a legal panel upheld the decision.A hearing in October gave the panel 100 days to rule on the matter. On Tuesday the three member panel unanimously upheld the termination calling Stacie Halas unfit to serve. Superintendent Jeff Chancer says they will make the decision about money at a meeting tonight.Halas was a popular science teacher at Haydock Intermediate School until boys reported seeing her in x-rated movies online. Many of the boys testified at the hearing, after the story went viral among students. The panel said she was unfit to teach because she lied repeatedly about working in the porn industry while she was already a substitute and assistant teacher at other schools. In one film she looks at the camera and talks about teaching.Halas’ attorney Richard Schwab has not returned our calls to comment on the decision. But Schwab has said she worked in the legal porn industry that paid taxes when she was desperate for money. He says she lied about it out of embarrassment.Halas, who was living in Camarillo when the case began, may choose to appeal the decision in Ventura County Superior Court. The 32-year-old is also considering a civil suit.Share your comments about this story with us on the KEY News Facebook page.
