Flu Season Came Early, Vaccine in High Demand

Flu season normally peaks in February. This year, the flu hit early and hard in 40 states across the country.Santa Barbara County Public Health say it’s been an aggressive flu season and getting a flu shot is the best way to guard against getting sick.”When people get it they’re feeling pretty sick,” Michele Mickiewicz said. “The best way to prevent it is by getting vaccinated.”Some pharmacies in Santa Barbara have run out of the vaccine, while others like the CVS Pharmacy on upper State Street, are planning a flu shot clinic.Sansum Clinic is one of the largest healthcare providers on the Central Coast and all 17,000 doses of the flu vaccine the clinic received have been used. Sansum Clinic doctors say more vaccine is on the way for patients who still want to be vaccinated.
