Ben Affleck receives film festival’s Modern Master award

Hollywood superstar Ben Affleck is the new Modern Master. He received the award Friday night on night two of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. With an already impressive resume, this A-lister is being honored for his work as director, star and producer of the critically acclaimed, and Oscar-nominated, film “Argo.” Based on true events, “Argo” chronicles the covert operation to rescue six Americans during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis.

Renowned film critic Leonard Maltin moderated the ceremony and says Argo is Affleck’s “third bulls-eye.” He says it’s his third successful film as a director and star, following “Gone Baby Gone” and 2010’s “The Town.”
