Women in Hwy 154 Fatality Identified

Two women were struck and killed by three vehicles on Highway 154 on Friday night. The Santa Barbara Coroner’s Office has identified the victims as 49 year old Barbara Romero of Lompoc and 54 year old Sara Ornales of Santa Barbara. According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident was reported just after 11:45 p.m. on Highway 154 near Paradise Road. Three vehicles hit the two victims as they walked on the roadway near the Rancho San Marcos Golf Course and Live Oak Camp.The CHP says one of the vehicles took off. The driver, 48 year-old Martin Macarena of San Luis Obispo, was found at the Chumash Casino early Saturday morning. He was arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run and causing injuries. The two drivers who pulled over and talked to authorities were identified by the CHP as Karen Gong, 45, of Oak View and Ma Guadalupe, 41 of Oxnard. They have not been arrested.
