Walgreen Company Environmental Settlement

Walgreen Company has to pay more than sixteen million dollars as part of a settlement for environmental violations. Santa Barbara County’s District Attorney Joyce Dudley made the announcement Monday as part of a civil environmental prosecution. It started during the fall of 2009 stating more than six hundred California stores illegally dumped hazardous waste and confidential customer medical information. Walgreen Company will pay four thousand to Santa Barbara County Fire Department Environmental Regulators and twenty-thousand dollars in civil penalties as well as cost recovery to the DA’s office.
