Officers will be out in full force throughout the holiday weekend, looking for drunk drivers. A spokesperson for the CHP says, almost 1,000 people were arrested for driving under the influence and 14 people were killed state wide last year during the Christmas holiday weekend. The maximum enforcement period starts Friday evening and lasts through the morning after Christmas. Several checkpoints will be set up during the maximum enforcement period.
