Healthy Resolutions Coming Early
Many residents are not waiting for a 2013 to begin working on their health plan. They are already putting their best foot forward, on local tracks, at the beach or in a gym.”Anything you can do to start, whether it be walking a little bit, just getting off the couch, just getting that blood flowing and not get that plaque build up as I understand it,” said John Miller. A local nursing student Kayla Blum, was doing a few laps and a few stadiums to get a basic workout in at Santa Barbara City College. She said, “feels good. It’s kind of hard after Christmas. Obviously I know about health care and when working in the hospital, I know obesity and smoking at the two biggest problems why people are in the hospital.”One person said walking her dog twice a day was a healthy motivator. She is also looking forward to some provisions of the President’s health care plan. “I am one of those people who is not insurable so I am really happy with what’s going to happen in 2014,” said Barb Salomon on the Santa Barbara bike path.
