Police Investigate the Mysterious Death at Shoreline Park

Santa Barbara- Santa Barbara Police are looking for clues into the death of a 60-year-old man whose body was found on the beach below Shoreline Park on September 20th. As many as 20 police detectives were on scene Thursday afternoon combing through the sand and vegetation along the beach where Christopher Evan Mark’s body was found. An autopsy report released this week by the Santa Barbara County Coroner’s office prompted the need for more evidence. The autopsy revealed that the death may be more involved than detectives first believed. The body was discovered by a jogger around 6:30am. It was so badly disheveled, that at first it appeared to be that of a woman in her 30s. Chris Marks was a resident of Santa Ynez. He was the owner of Sweeney Canyon Vineyard, and an attorney. He had five children. Police are not releasing any other information at this time. They are not ruling out whether this was an accident, suicide, or foul play. There’s no indication if alcohol or drugs were a factor. A private memorial will be held Saturday, September 29th at 2pm at Holy Cross Church on Cliff Drive. KEY News Reporter Shirin Rajaee reports.
