Five Carpinteria City Council Candidates Vie for Two Open Seats

Carpinteria- A public forum was held Wednesday night between the five candidates vying for the two open seats on the Carpinteria City Council. One seat belongs to Council member Joe Armendariz, who stepped down October 1st, to pursue other business opportunities in Orcutt and to be closer to his family. The second seat is that of Councilwoman Kathleen Reddington, who is up for re-election. The public came out to listen to the contenders speak on a number of issues from the Hwy 101 Freeway expansion project, to transient occupancy tax, to whether or not the city should be “car free.” KEY News Reporter Shirin Rajaee was at the forum and gives us a first hand look at all five candidates.
