Dozens of Bills to Become California Law Soon

Parents who don’t want their children vaccinated by the time they go to public school will be required to get a doctor’s signature after January of 2014. Governor Brown says the law will ensure parents are making an informed decision.Hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants in California will be able to get a driver’s license. The law is aimed at getting more people trained and tested for the roads and make it more likely they will get insurance. The law goes into effect in January.Governor Brown also signed a bill that bans therapy aimed at turning gay and lesbian kids straight. The law goes into effect in January.Prisoners who were sentenced to life in prison for crimes they committed when they were under 18 will get to ask a judge for a second chance after 15 years. A judge could reduce the sentence to 25 years to life. The law goes into effect in January.
