Body Found Near Alisal Ranch is Missing San Marino Man

UPDATE: SOLVANG — The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the body found in a lake near the Alisal Ranch property has been identified as the missing San Marino man Kurt Brimberry.Brimberry was found around 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday. An employee at Alisal Ranch near Solvang made the gruesome discovery while giving a tour to guests at the ranch. Law enforcement said he had been in the water for a few days. This is close to an area where Search and Rescue teams spent the past week and a half looking for a man who vanished after crashing his SUV. Alisal Ranch spans 10,500 acres of rolling hills. “The decedent was found in the lake area of the Alisal Guest Ranch here,” said Sgt. Mark Williams, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office. The section of the property where the body was found is past the two golf courses and about three miles from downtown Solvang. Brimberry’s body was found in an irrigation pond for the working ranch and also as a recreation area for the guests that stay there. “My understanding is that there was a ranch hand or someone who was giving a tour to a group who was walking around the lake and made the discovery,” said Sgt. Williams. Sheriff’s detectives, coroner investigators and members of the dive team responded to the scene. On August 18, The 55-year-old San Marino resident mysteriously disappeared after his SUV crashed into a tree on Alisal Road near Nojoqui Park. His cell phone was still on the front seat of the vehicle. A passerby reported seeing a man walking towards the guest ranch where he was staying with his family on vacation. It’s around 2.7 miles from the park to that part of the ranch. Search and Rescue, a helicopter and dogs tried to locate him, but he was never found. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s coroner identified the body with either fingerprints or dental records.
