SANTA BARBARA – Retailers are pulling out all the stops this weekend for back-to-school shoppers whether you’re at the mall, the marketplace or McDonald’s.Participating McDonald’s on the central coast are giving away a total of 2,400 backpacks to kindergarten through eight grade students. In Goleta, tickets will be handed out at 7:30 Saturday morning to 100 customers. The actual giveaway starts at 8:00 a.m. Many others will receive coupons for Happy Meals.Staples is offering huge bargains on most classroom supplies and proclaimed Saturday as “Teacher Appreciation Day,” with the promise of more discounts.The Paseo Nuevo Mall is tapping into Teen Vogue’s ‘National Shopping Holiday’ event Saturday. Participating stores include American Eagle, Gap, Express and Pac Sun. Customers will find a host of bargains from jeans under $30 to special fall collections and 30% off on many items.
