Animal Services and Public Health

To improve efficiency Ventura County Animal Services is now under the Ventura County Public Health umbrella.Ventura County’s Executive Officer Mike Powers made Animal Services a division of the Public Health in June..The departments got used to the change this summer.Pet licenses and contracts with local cities help fund animal services.But the consolidation also helps the county financially.Animal Services Interim Director Donna Gillesby says the transition is going smoothly.Animal Service already reported to public health about rabies.Now they have that kind of reporting is even easier to do.KEY News will have more details at 6:30 p.m.Share your comments about this story with us on the KEY News Facebook page.
