CENTRAL COAST, Calif. - A thunderstorm moved its way up the West Coast Saturday morning.

Striking pictures and video capturing lightning strikes were shared with our newsroom from Goleta up to Nipomo.

These lightning strikes littered the coast, sparking a multitude of spot fires. All lightning fires in Santa Barbara County were successfully halted by Saturday afternoon while a few San Luis Obispo County fires continued to grow.

As the thunderstorm traveled, residents across the Santa Ynez Valley, Santa Maria and up into San Luis Obispo County suffered from blackouts. These outages lasted hours and impacted thousands of homes. The cause of the outages has not yet been shared.
