Thursday morning forecast October 1st

Hot, dry and gusty conditions will bring elevated to critical fire weather through Friday. A Heat Advisory remains in effect across San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties until Friday at 8 PM. A gradual cooling trend will begin on Friday but temperatures likely to remain above average through the weekend.

Peak heat will persists through Thursday, with daytime highs along the coastal areas in the upper 80s to 90s. Interior valleys in the upper 90s to triple digit heat. Offshore breezes expected to return Friday evening with gusty winds along southern Santa Barbara County.

As a ridge of high pressure weakens, more significant cooling could be expected into the weekend. By Friday offshore trends could weaken slightly allowing for some cooling but the forecast will still remain very warm. The ridge will sink further south on Saturday allowing for a stronger onshore flow. This will then lead to more morning cloud cover and near average temperatures through early next week.
