Kacey Drescher is ecstatic to be reporting back home on the West Coast after spending the past ten years working around the country. She joined the NPG of California team just two weeks before the Thomas Fire and is honored to be a part of an Emmy-Award winning news team. This community’s resiliency, strength and compassion gives her motivation to be a dedicated storyteller day in and day out and her coverage of the Montecito Mudslide garnered a 2018 Golden Mike Award for Best News Reporting.
Bringing her experience as a newsroom leader on both sides of the Rockies, Kacey joined the KEYT-KCOY-KKFX team after spending almost four years at WSFA 12 News in Montgomery, Alabama. As a reporter for the #1 station in the market, Kacey covered everything from SEC Football to national headline-making political events. In 2016 she was recognized by the Alabama Associated Press Media Editors and in 2017 the Alabama Broadcasters Association awarded her the Judges Award of Merit for Hard News.
Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Kacey attended Washington State University where she graduated with a BA in Communications with an emphasis in broadcast news from the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication - Go Cougs! During her time at WSU, Kacey served as an active member of Cable 8 News, The Association of Women in Communications, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, and Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.
After interning at KOMO 4 News in Seattle, working alongside journalists she grew up idolizing, she began her broadcasting career in 2010 as a political reporter for KFBB-TV in Helena, Montana. After extensively covering the 2011 Montana Legislative Session, her coverage on medical marijuana legislation was featured on several national platforms.
During her time in Montana, she served as main anchor, senior reporter, executive producer, assignment editor and interim news director. Kacey's passion for storytelling and dedication to covering breaking news earned her an EB Craney Award for Spot News from the Montana Broadcasters Association in 2012.
Kacey is an avid concert/music festival patron and considers fashion and pop culture her hobbies. When she's not working she enjoys shopping, traveling and spending time with her husband and rescue pups, Cash and Mike Wazowski.
