ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. - The Arroyo Grande Recreation Services Department is announcing COVID-friendly events that will be available for children, families and businesses this Halloween.

Community events will include the Mayor’s House Decorating Challenge, a Scarecrow Contest, Costume Contest and Business Storefront Decorating contest.

Categories for house decorating include celebrations for Dia De Los Muertos.

The series of events will culminate with a socially distanced walk-in movie night at Soto Sports Complex on Friday, Oct. 30. Families are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs and sit on a lawn to watch Disney's Haunted Mansion. Tickets for the movie night are $30 and can be purchased online here.

The city is also hosting Halloween challenges over the course of six days called the "AG Days of Halloween." More details and rules about each challenge will be announced on the city's website here and on their social media pages.

Each day, a new challenge will be posted that families can complete and share on social media for a chance to win a prize. Participants in the challenges must tag their social media post entries with the hashtag #agrechalloween.

The city said the more days you participate in the challenges, the bigger your prize award.
