2020 Elks Rodeo in Santa Maria kicks off with beard and Miss Wrangler contests

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The 2020 Elks Rodeo is kicking off with their 61st Annual Beard-A-Reno event and Miss Wrangler contest.

These competitions will be open to entries starting Monday, Feb. 3 at 9 a.m. until Friday, April 3 at 5 p.m.

The Beard-A-Reno Contest is a beard-growing contest which requires entrants to be clean-shaven at the time of registration.

The beards they grown from that time to the official dinner on May 9 will be judged in the following categories: Longest Beard, Blackest Beard, Whitest Beard, Reddest Beard, Best Goatee, Best Mustache, Best Sideburns, Best Attempt, Wildest, Best Western Characterization and Best All-Around.

Mustaches are okay, however, entrants with mustaches at signups are not able to enter the Mustache category.

The winners of each category will receive a custom-made silver belt buckle.

Registration for both the Beard-A-Reno and Miss Wrangler Contests will cost a fee of $25. This fee covers a BBQ beef rib dinner, beans, salad and music.

The first ten ladies to enter the Miss Wrangler contest will receive a Wrangler Gift Certificate which can be redeemed for a pair of Wrangler jeans. To receive the certificate, entrants must be registered and must attend and participate in the event.

The winner of the Miss Wrangler contest will also receive a custom-made silver belt buckle.

The official dinner will start at 5:30 p.m. on May 9.

Allied Central Coast will serve as the major presenter for the various categories.

You an enter the contests at the Elks Rodeo Office located at 2325 Skyway Drive, Suite H. All entrants must be 21 years or older.

Members of the community who would like to attend the Beard-A-Reno dinner event can purchase tickets starting February 3 at the Elks Rodeo Office at 2325 Skyway Drive, Suite H, in Santa Maria. You can also call the office at (805) 925-4125.

You must be 21 years or older to attend and will be required to show a valid ID at the entrance.

The rodeo recommends buying tickets early as the event usually sells out.
