Regal Edwards theater to reopen in Santa Maria

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - It's opening day at the Regal Edwards Santa Maria Movie theater.

Movie goers say, it’s about time!

"I’m really excited I mean it’s one of my favorite places at the mall for me the movie theater like brought back life," said movie goer Luis Garcia.

Business owners at the Town Center Mall are expecting the reopening to increase foot traffic, something they welcome after a year of hardship.

"Most definitely we expect more traffic with the movie theater opening ... people go shopping before the movies ... they go shopping after the movies ... they like to wander around ... there will definitely be more foot traffic," said owner Sheila Grugi of City Central Candy and Gifts.

The movie theater is following CinemaSafe health and safety measures including mask requirements in the lobby and auditoriums, in-app ticket and snack purchases, and a 50 percent capacity allowed in each auditorium.

"It’s been a wild ride this past year for sure ... there’s been a lot of openings lots of closings so This opening signifies a lot of hope for the future," said manager Kristen LaGrange of the Santa Maria Town Center Mall.
