Looking for the Helpers: Tile mural honors Dos Pueblos High School class of 2020

As our area is faced with ongoing changes due to a growing pandemic, we are bringing stories of people doing good in the community during a time of uncertainty.

Help us look for the helpers!

Resiliency Wall

The Dos Pueblos High School Foundation just announced the completion of a tile mural honoring the Class of 2020.

It's called the Class of 2020 Resiliency Wall.

The mural is made up of nearly 1,000 tiles and is located on the wall of the gymnasium at Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta.

Parents said they wanted to recognize the students and all they've been through this year, from dealing with COVID-19 which abruptly ended their Senior year, to the tragic loss of two students and two parents.

Every member of the Class of 2020 personalized their tile which symbolizes the graduates throwing their caps into the air. The tiles were donated by Gina Flint of Tileco and the DPHS Foundation raised $10,000 in just a few weeks with donations from the community.

DPHS Principal Bill Woodard said he's grateful to everyone who made this special project come to fruition.

"We're very proud of the work that the Dos Pueblos Foundation did, and actually the greater Goleta community did in rallying around our graduates to honor them in this cool and unique way. It's very beautiful too," Woodard said.
