Look for the helpers.

Feeding the Frontlines

Farm workers were recognized for their essential work during COVID-19 in Ventura County.

The campaign is called Feeding the Frontlines, and is made up of a group of business owners and community leaders.

This week, a group of volunteers from the group brought food trucks to provide hundreds of hot meals, and cargo trucks packed with home products, fruits and vegetables to farms in Oxnard and Santa Paula for farm workers and their families.

Organizers said they will continue to stop by local farms in the coming weeks.

Pandemic Pizza Party

Rusty's Pizza is feeding essential workers during the pandemic. Over the last month, Rusty's has delivered pizzas, salads and soda to the Santa Barbara Police Foundation, The Summerland Fire Department, ER staff at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital and the Santa Barbara CHP.

Rusty's has also teamed up with local wineries that have been forced to close.

Flyover Thank-you

Local pilots take flight to honor medical, police, fire and military professionals.

Five aircraft will perform a military style flyover above several hospitals on Saturday, April 25.

The aircraft are Beechcraft T-34 A & B model Mentors that were built as military trainers around 1955, according to one of the pilots. The pilots are retired military personnel as well as current commercial airline pilots.

The flyovers are as follows: Saint John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard at 10:23 a.m., Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura at 10:26 a.m., and Santa Barbara and Goleta Cottage Hospitals around 10:36 a.m. and 10:39 a.m.

The flyover times are an estimate and dependent upon air traffic control.
