California Condor live cam returns in Ventura County
VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. - A condor camera in Ventura County is live once again thanks in part to the Santa Barbara Zoo.
People around the world can keep an eye on an endangered condor chick in real time.
Taking a peek at the camera shows see the newly hatched condor chick in its cliffside nest.
The camera is located in a canyon near the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Hopper Mountain National Wildlife Refuge in Ventura County.
“The condor program is a clear example of the strength of public-private partnerships in achieving conservation objectives,” said Dr. Estelle Sandhaus, Santa Barbara Zoo’s Director of Conservation and Science.
Sandhaus said it's unclear what the future will hold for the new parents, 594 and 374, but says viewers and conservationist will learn and watch what happens in real time together.
The condor chick hatched on April 10.
This is the sixth year the live camera has been put up.
