CARPINTERIA, Calif. - Even with COVID-19 rules in place, the California Avocado Festival has created some virtual events this year, including the prestigious Guacamole contest.

Ten entries will be chosen at random for the Guacamole contest.

A chef from the Food Liason will prepare the guacamole and a team of judges will determine the winner.

The setting will be videotaped for an online show that's being prepared with other aspects of the 34th annual festival.

Only a very limited number of people will be involved in-person for the event, to abide by distancing and event rules during the pandemic.
