Teen Star hosting virtual concert
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — In honor of mothers throughout the world, Teen Star will be hosting its first virtual concert tonight.
“I’ve been thinking of ways in how we can showcase our talent,” Teen Star founder Joe Lambert said. “Of course this stay-at-home concert idea came up.”
Nine past champions will return to entertain viewers, including American Idol hopefuls Jackson Gillies and Sofia Schuster.
The remainder of the lineup will include 2020 Teen Star winner Andie Bronstad, as well as past champions Daniel Geiger, Rachel LaCommare, Allison Lewis, Nolan Montgomery, Bear Redell and Sydney Shalhoob.
“They were excited and thrilled to be asked,” Lambert said. “Many of them are all over the country, so this is a great opportunity to see them again perform.”
All proceeds with go towards the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County, who will work with the United Boys & Girls Club to distribute food to those under 18.
“I’m so happy that we can work with the Boys & Girls Clubs and the Foodbank to try to help make a difference right now,” Teen Star 2020 winner Andie Bronstad said. “Because we really need it.”
“Both have stepped up in light of COVID,” Teen Star 2019 winner Sofia Schuster said. “We really want to show them how much we appreciate them in this time of uncertainty.”
The singers have chosen songs that range from originals to “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” and “Let It Be.” They’ll hope to inspire the entire community through their shared musical bond.
“Music truly connects people,” Schuster said. “We’ve seen in before with other disasters in our town, music really uniting us and bringing us together.”
“Music really unifies people and I’m just hoping at the very least that we can just bring a smile to somebody’s face,” Bronstad concluded.
The stream for ‘An Evening With Stars’ will originate tonight at 7 p.m. from Teen Star’s Facebook page.
