Two additional coronavirus deaths reported in Santa Barbara County

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department reported two new coronavirus-related deaths on Wednesday.

The public health department says both people were over 70 years of age and were connected to congregate living facilities that are currently experiencing outbreaks.

One of these people lived in Santa Barbara and the Mission Canyon area. The other lived in unincorporated South Santa Barbara County

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department said one of these people had underlying health conditions, but did not specify which one.

The county records a death as coronavirus-related when a death certificate is processed that lists COVID-19 as the cause of death or a significant contributing factor. The process can take days to weeks to verify, the public health department says.
