SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Santa Barbara's Solstice Parade will not be held in person this year, but organizers are putting together a virtual event to keep the celebration goin.

Solstice organizers are asking people to submit videos to take part in a virtual solstice festival.

The Virtual Solstice Parade is theme "Beautiful Earth."

“We will be kicking off the parade at noon June 20,” said Robin Elander, executive director of the Summer Solstice Celebration. “Our master of ceremonies and artistic director, Riccardo Morrison, will be your host. Our artists are busy creating and we need you to get busy creating, too."

Anyone wanting to take part in the virtual parade can dress up, film themselves dancing or performing, and send it to the Solstice organizers to take part in the interactive show.

The community is invited to participate in the virtual solstice parade by submitting up to a 20-second solo video or up to a 90-second video of a group or ensemble that will be put together for the live show.

“If watching the parade is more your style, we welcome you to be a spectator. Send us a picture of you or your family waving or saying ‘happy solstice’ in your favorite lawn chairs," Elander said.

The deadline to submit videos is June 6.
