ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. - San Luis Obispo County could be entering late stage 2 of reopening soon.

The county made the announcement today during the health press conference Monday.

San Luis Obispo County Public Health is now putting together the application to move deeper into phase two.

The board of supervisors will take up the issue tomorrow. With their approval, the full application package will be submitted to the state.

Then, the California Department of Public Health will need to approve it. Once approved, the county can move into late Stage 2.

That would mean restaurants could offer dine-in services, and retail stores could open with modifications.

Business owners in Arroyo Grande said they are anxious to reopen.

"I actually feel like it's time," said Tracy Sonny, owner of The Hive. She sells goods made by local sellers.

"It doesn't quite seem fair that an essential business is a liquor store with Doritos, alcohol and cigarettes, but yet my merchandise is not considered essential," said Sonny.

The county says it meets all the new metrics for late Stage 2.

Other residents we talked to said they are worried about small businesses in particular. They said they are comfortable with more businesses opening as long as people continue to be cautious, including staying physically distant and wearing masks.

There is no anticipated date for approval or when that decision would take effect, but the county hopes it will be a matter of days.
