SLO County urges distancing at beaches, asks visitors to stay away
SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. -- San Luis Obispo County leaders are asking residents to prevent crowding at local beaches in hopes of minimizing the spread of coronavirus.
The Department of Public Health also says out-of-town visitors should delay their travel plans to SLO County until further notice.
Officials define safe and responsible outdoor activity includes gathering only with people you live with and staying at least six feed away from other groups.
“I’ve said before, that while we normally welcome visitors, now is not the time for tourism,” said County Emergency Services Director Wade Horton. “That is still true. We must keep our community as healthy as possible and right now that means acting responsibly in our outdoor areas.”
The statement was made as temperatures continue to warm up and people visit beaches to beat the heat.
