Virtual workout relay to benefit COVID relief
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- A wide variety of 30-minute workouts led by top trainers and popular figures will be available online Friday and Saturday for $10 with proceeds going to charities.
San Luis Obispo based Mindbody is partnering with Men's Health and Women's Health to put on "Relay for Relief," a global virtual workout relay. Organizers say it's the first event of its kind. It's all to benefit COVID-19 response and recovery efforts.
24 hours of continuous fitness classes will be led by athletes, celebrity fitness trainers, and Mindbody customers. Confirmed trainers include Julianne Hough, Olympic Athlete Allison Felix, and San Luis Obispo's own McAllister Training.
People of all fitness levels have the opportunity to choose the 30-minute class that's right for them. Disciplines include HIIT, strength training, yoga and meditation sessions.
"COVID-19 is having a hugely disruptive impact on the wellness industry, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to partner with Men's Health and Women's Health in order to provide some relief to business owners and practitioners," said Mindbody CEO and Co-founder Rick Stollmeyer. "With this disruption comes both near-term challenges and long-term opportunities. We at Mindbody are utterly convinced that the wellness industry will grow even faster in a post-COVID-19 environment and that many existing businesses will thrive, and new businesses will emerge."
