911 issues reported in Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo County

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. – Issues with 911 services are being reported in San Luis Obispo County and the City of Santa Maria.

UPDATE: As of Tuesday morning full 911 service has been returned for Verizon Wireless customers in both Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo County.

On Sunday night, Verizon Wireless informed the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office of a regional issue with 911 services for its subscribers.

If you have an emergency in San Luis Obispo before service is restored you will need to inform emergency responders of your location and provide your number in case they need to contact you.

According to San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office, there has been no interruption to 911 service and all calls are being routed to seven-digit lines.

Santa Maria Police released a statement that cellular phone users with Verizon wireless are intermittently unable to reach the City's police office. Instead, 911 call are being routed to San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.

Santa Maria residents who receive an error message after calling 911 are encouraged to use this alternate emergency number at 805-925-2631 to connect to dispatch.

The Santa Maria Police Department's non-emergency number is 805-928-3781 ext. 2277.
