Steve Gregory - Paso Robles City Council candidate

Paso Robles City Council

Why are you running for office?: I have raised my family here and I love this city. I have volunteered for many nonprofits and school activities. Paso Robles is a very special place. We work well as a community and we all have a great "can do attitude". Our downtown is wonderfully successful, and we have so much to offer our community and our visitors. I would like to help keep Paso Robles business friendly and a welcoming community. We have a strong hospitality oriented economy along with a great agricultural base and history. I want to help on younger generations take over and help run our city and keep our future bright.
What makes you qualified for the job?: I successfully operated a hospitality oriented resort for over twenty years. I helped operate a company with over 200 employees and was responsible for the P and L and all financial aspects of the company. In that position I managed multiple projects through the EIR process with our County Government. I know and understand what it takes to get new projects approved. This experience has helped me greatly in my last six years on the council. I have operated water treatment systems and worked on several wastewater treatment projects as well. I also work in construction management part time which helps me to understand the issues of new projects and upcoming developments. And I have time, I do my homework and like helping out this wonderful community.
What are your two main priorities if you win?: My main priorities are to maintain and improve our funding for our Police and Fire Departments. And to keep a well balanced budget and continue to encourage resourceful and responsible spending.
How will you interact with other governments?: I am comfortable interacting with all levels of government, but my focus is to work well with our regional partners. Atascadero, Templeton, San Miguel, Shandon and Santa Margarita. I have a great relationship with our County Supervisor John Peschong and with Debbie Arnold. And we have collaborated at several levels on many projects.
What are your plans to help overcome COVID-19?: Continue to cautiously and responsibly move to reopening our economy. Our community needs our businesses and schools to reopen and get back to a normal way of life.
Which two issues are most important to you?: Keeping our citizens safe with adequate staffing for our police and Fire Departments
Start building more housing affordable and market rate
