Why are you running for office?: | I am running for office: -to be an advocate for local businesses. -to put the Goleta Citizen first. -to strike the balance between open space and moderate growth -fiscal responsibility |
What makes you qualified for the job?: | Community Leadership: Serve on the Board of Goleta Old Town Association making decisions for Old Town to bring more customers into our area. Encouraging game night and movie night. Chair of "Love Your City Clean Up" - organizing cleanup, trash abatement and planting beautiful purple flowers along hollister in Old Town by bringing citizens and other local neighborhood organizations together. We won a neighborhood award in Best Appearance with Nation Neighborhood Of American. My committee had a balance budget. - Marketing Specialist for Growing Local Businesses - Small Business Owner |
What are your two main priorities if you win?: | Getting our local businesses open and look at options where we can encourage local shopping and exploring other opportunities to stabilize our businesses. Look at ways we can safeguard against total shut down in the future. Look at options to make up funds the city lost from the pandemic. |
How will you interact with other governments?: | It's important to build good relationships with other governing bodies through mutual respect and common ground. Compliment them on some issue/program/bill ordinances they played a role in forming. |
What are your plans to help overcome COVID-19?: | I believe that we need to get our businesses open immediately as long as our numbers are low. I agree with Jim Desmond, County Supervisor of San Diego County who stated something to the effects that the bar the governor set is impossible to hit: 1 positive case out of 100,000 means the cities need to shut-down. We need to get ALL our businesses open in Goleta so it can be the Good Land for everyone. We are all in this together. |
Which two issues are most important to you?: | Advocating for local businesses, affordable housing and getting our homelessness off the street. |
