CARPINTERIA, Calif. -- The California Grown Agri-tour is making stops across the state.

California Secretary of Agriculture Karen Ross and a group of influencers visited farms along the South Coast. They are on a journey through some of the state's richest agricultural areas.

Ross said it's all about bringing Californians together.

"It's very important that we connect the consumer with where the food comes from and who is growing it," Ross said. "We've created this CA Grown Agri-tour to do exactly that."

The tour is hosted by California Grown, a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging consumers to buy flowers, fruits, vegetables, nuts, dairy and meat grown in the state of California.

A group of influences who write about food and travel were able to see where crops are grown and get a better understanding of where their food comes from.

Ross and the tour group visited flower nurseries in Carpinteria.

"It's been so educational and fun, and so delicious and beautiful," Ross said.
"There is nothing better than having an on the ground experience. It's a wonderful way to bring Californians together."

The tour made its way to Ventura County after the stop in Carpinteria.
